Richie wasn’t Underrated – Andy Dosty defends Richie Mensah’s talent.

Andy Dosty had stated that Richie Mensah had never been underrated during the early part of his career.

He made this assertion in an interview when the host Caleb Nii Boye asked whether the record producer had been underrated in the late 2000s.

“He was not underrated.” Andy begun while speaking on the show. He clarified the reason for that misconception, stating: “So you listen to Richie and he was doing something for the younger folk and all the youngsters were going there and working with Richie on something called Crunk.”

He continued, saying: “Go and tell Zap Mallet or Okraku Mantey and the rest about Crunk and they’ll ask you what that is. Old folks, bring it to them and they’ll tell you this is not music. Not until Richie started giving us back to back hits with Sweet melodies.”

He said that when they noticed he was helping names like Mad Fish, Praye, Okyeame Kwame and Asem they changed their tune, stating that: “I’m sure a lot of people recommended Richie and a lot of the old folks ignored it until they would hear Praye or Okyeame Kwame working with Richie for them to say, oh he’s good. Let’s go there.”
