Okyeame Kwame didn’t want to go to Richie for Woso – Andy Dosty

Andy Dosty pointed out that Okyeame Kwame initially didn’t want to go to Richie Mensah for help with his hit song Woso.

The Rap Doctor was one of those who didn’t believe in Crunk Music when it first started, and was hesitant to work with Richie because of his association with the genre’s style and sound.

Andy in an interview with Caleb Nii Boye shared the details of how he had to convince Okyeame Kwame to see Richie eventually.

He told Caleb that: “When I was taking him to Richie he said no he won’t go.  I was like, Kwame, the boy will give you a hit, he still said no.”

Andy also mentioned that Okyeame Kwame had initially done a version of Woso with Jay Q, but he felt it could have been better, saying: “Respect to Jay Q when he (Kwame) brought it I listened to it. There was some Kpanlogo in there and I said it’s okay but I don’t think this thing will work. You can keep it in your album but give me the chance to do this.”

He said that artist finally relented and reluctantly worked with Richie Mensah but still had little hope in the collaboration until he heard the final product.

He told Caleb that: “They came to Kumasi and brought me the instrumental. I sent it to Kwame and he listened to it and was like, This Is Fire! And that was how Woso was born.”
