Team Nigeria continues to shine at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as Chioma Onyekwere bags goals in the discus. It was gathered that the mechanical engineering graduate currently works with multinational company Ford Motors.
Complete Sports reports that Onyekwere saved her best for the last major competition of the year to make history as the first Nigerian woman to win the Commonwealth Games gold in the Discus Throw event.

The 28-year-old threw 61.70m in her fourth attempt to take the lead from the home girl, Jade Lally, who led from the start of the competition with her opening throw of 57.33m.
The Nigerian who opened with 55.82m knew she needed more than the 58.19m she threw to win the African Championships gold last June in Mauritius.
Statistics show that since she started representing Nigeria in 2016, she has now won 5 medals, having claimed the prestigious prizes in Durban 2016, Asaba 2018, Rabat 2019, Mauritius 2022 and now Birmingham 2022.
