ISLAMIC SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER NARRATES HOW HE WAS MALTREATED AND ARRESTED BY THE POLICE AFTER STUDENTS PROTEST.
Kofi Antwi, a teacher of the Islamic senior high school in the Ashanti Region, has narrated how he was manhandled by the police who thought he incited students to protest for speedrumps on the road infront of the school, according to a reportage by joy FM today, June 17, 2022.
In his own words, he stated,
“I was coming to teach because I had class in the morning. So when I got at the entrance, I realised the students are on the street. I inquired and was told they’re demonstrating to demand for speed ramps due to the incessant knockdown of colleagues. So I stood there and said they have a genuine concern. That’s all I said and the police claimed I incited them to pour on the streets. They used the butt of gun to hit me severally before dragging me to the police station”.
In a picture shared, the teacher is seen with a bandage covering his eyes and head as he is unable to see though treated and discharged.

He questioned why authorities have to wait for the worse to happen before the right action is taken.
He added, ” somebody shouldn’t have to be on the street before things are done right. I’m not happy the demonstration came on but the students were justified.
Students of the Islamic senior high school in the Ashanti Region protested after numerous request to the governments’ appropriate authorities for speed rumps yielded no result.
They had no option but to block the road in front of their school to prevent further accidents as the number of accidents recorded over the years at the given spot are getting alarming.
In a report by citi FM on Monday June 13, about 30 of the students involved in the protest were rushed to the hospital after the police who were dispatched to go maintain law and order fired tear gas into the crowd of demonstrating students. Several others sustained injuries.
