I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT GIMME BLOW DIDN’T GET NOMINATED – RICHIE MENSAH

Richie Mensah has spoken Candidly to Caleb Nii Boye about his disappointment with Gimme Blow losing not being nominated at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

He was on 3FM’s showbiz927 show with Caleb when the host asked him how he felt about that particular snub at the time.

“Oh I was disappointed,” the CEO of Lynx Entertainment told him. “Everyone talks about that VGMA but if you know the number of disappointments I’ve had at the VGMA. Gimme Blow was never nominated and my song Yaro was never nominated. But that’s how award schemes go.”

When Caleb asked what caused the song to be overlooked by the award scheme he did admit that the profanities were a factor.

He did admit that the profanities in the song were a factor and a result of his inexperience at the time, but went on to say that if a certain type of people weren’t ok with it there were those who it was perfect for.

He said: “I would say I wasn’t knowledgeable enough to understand those things at the time but at the same time music is done for different people. So if the song serves a certain kind of people and doesn’t serve another type of people, that’s fine.”
