I haven’t spoken to Otto Addo or GFA about my World Cup ambitions – Asamoah Gyan

Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has revealed that he hasn’t spoken to either coach Otto Addo or any official about his wish to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Asamoah Gyan despite being inactive in the game for close to two years has hinted about his desire to have a last dance with the Black Stars in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The World Cup statement from Asamoah Gyan has sparked a huge debate in Ghana with many claiming that the Black Stars is currently going through transition, therefore, fixing Gyan in the team would disrupt the team’s process.

Despite his decision to come back, Gyan has said that he hasn’t discussed his plans with the Black Stars technical team headed by Otto Addo and the Ghana Football Association.

“Honestly, I haven’t spoken to anybody yet, it’s part of the plan. I just want to see how my body reacts first. My manager and I have been talking behind the scenes, so we just have to make sure we know what we are doing.”

“Everything is in progress, everything looks positive, so we will see what happens, there might be a surprise,” Asamoah Gyan told BBC’s John Bennett in an interview.

Asamoah Gyan is Africa’s all-time top scorer at the FIFA World Cup with six goals.
