GREAT KOFATA DONATES ICT CENTRE TO AYIREBI SENIOR HIGH

An Accra-based businessman, Mr Emmanuel Bright Obeng Nyarko, also known as Great Kofata, Managing Director of Kofata Motors, Abossey Okai, has donated a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre to Ayirebi Senior High School, as part of their 30thAnniversary celebrations. The top-of-the-range ICT centre which is fully-equipped with seventy (70) desktop computers, two (2) printers, one (1) projector with free 4G internet service for 90 days. Each of the computers has an in-built computer-based testing (CBT) training applications which should partly equip students for their WASSCE.

Donating the ICT Centre, Mr Emmanuel Bright Obeng Nyarko said, “it is imperative that young people in schools have early access to the world of technology. This enables accelerated learning and deepens their understanding of varied concepts which helps them to be dynamic and well prepared for the challenges of our ever-evolving world”.  He added, “I am therefore by this gesture, charging students and others desirous of upgrading their knowledge in ICT to avail themselves to seize the ample opportunity provided by this new facility within their domain”. “I have long shared Dr. Bawumia’s idea of digitisation and have over the years taken strides in my modest capacity to enhance it through the provision of State-of-the-Art ICT Centres. The donation to my Alma Mater, Bontodiase Methodist Primary A&B School in 2018 was the first testament of such efforts. I pledged from that moment to continue to promote digital inclusion, especially through provision of access to technology, to bridge the digital connectivity divide, train talents, build capacity, promote knowledge transfer and support the process of achieving a fully-digital economy”, he reiterated.

“That first ICT Centre donation under the patronage of the former District Director of Education, Madam Elizabeth Korkor Amanor, who later became the Municipal Director of Education, Akuapim North, was the birth of this series of ICT Centre donations. Other towns and villages that contributed so much to my upbringing such as Adwafo – where my mother hailed from; Asuboa – where I completed middle school; and now Ayirebi – have now tasted of this glorious act of benevolence”, he emphasized.

According to him, he donated the ICT Centre in commemoration of the life of my late mother, Obaapanin Rosina Abena Akyaa Nyarko. Many called her Oyikwanpa and as the name denotes, many would agree with me that she did indeed set great examples and paved good paths for all to follow.

Concluding his speech, Great Kofata said he remains committed to supporting education to ensure a better future for children from all walks of life as he has done in the past and continue to do.

He further admonished the students to take their studies seriously, and eschew any acts of indiscipline.
