Beast audition: My daughter didn’t talk to me for 3 weeks- Idris Elba reveals

Isan Elba, the actor’s daughter, lost her audition for the part of Beast in his new film and did not talk to him for three weeks.

In Beast, Idris plays a father who does everything in his power to save his two daughters; as a result, his daughter, an aspiring actor, chose to apply for the part.

Elba claims she was excellent during the acting process, but ultimately the casting committee chose to go in a different way since there simply wasn’t enough connection between them.

Elba claimed that was the reason his daughter didn’t talk to him for three whole weeks.

“She wants to be an actress and she auditioned,” Elba said on “The Breakfast Club.

“And you know, it came down to chemistry in the end. You know, my daughter, she was great, but the relationship in the film and the relationship with my daughter was — the chemistry wasn’t right for the film, weirdly enough. My daughter didn’t talk to me for about three weeks.” he added.

Producer of Beasts, Will Packer echoed Elba’s statements that Isan was very good during the audition process but their real-life relationship just didn’t translate on-screen.

“Idris is right, some of the nuances of that real-life relationship sometimes doesn’t translate on screen,” he said.

After her three-week pout, Isan eventually came around and attended the premiere of Beast alongside her father.

Beast is an American survival film about a wild and hungry Lion killing people on a South African game reserve whilst Dr Nate Samuels, played by Elba, tries to keep everyone – including his two daughters – alive.
